I also love that you would say, "This blog is meant to raise questions, present ideas, and provide a foundation for future researchers to build upon."<br /><br />Thanks so much for all the work you do!Clark Kleinmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10152191835111382419noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8426723056163837913.post-10561236068875449872010-03-29T20:46:04.841-06:002010-03-29T20:46:04.841-06:00Hey Chris,

You mentioned Comalcalco - a place I had never heard of till now. It sounded more than a little fascinating to me. While not a student of ancient American archaeology, I do dabble. I definitely do enjoy!!<br />As for Sarah’s question, I found that one rather intriguing to consider. In light of the fact that Heavenly Father uses oaths and covenants to exalt us, it seems no surprise that the “great imitator” would attempt to use the same techniques to further his kingdom by un-exalting as many souls as possible. And speaking of imitating, one can also consider the number of modern movies out there with made up prophecies, strange prophets and other contrived accessors of divine understanding and will. To me, most of these movies are just entertainment, but I expect to some, they are not. I think that many people long for an easy way to get the ear of God and to get God in their ears – all the while thinking that the process is much more difficult than it really is. Prayer is so easy, like Naaman dipping himself in the river Jordan (2Kings 5:1-14), that some won’t even try it out. Repentance is a mighty change of heart that immediately brings the power of the atonement to bear in my life and in the lives of everyone I know who has tried it. Repentance is so easy that an eight-year-old can do it. Like the puff of smoke you mentioned Chris, Satan’s power can be easily made to flee - if the right choices are made. As for me, I feel truly blessed that I have been given enough eternal truth to know these things. And I can even live that truth if I want to. What a great thing it is to wear out a lifetime trying to get to know God while avoiding the darkness!Davis L. But Lucifer would hardly need to develop some special plan for this earth. It's child's play to act against the innocent. We are like children on this earth, protected by God if we are faithful, open to the curses of the Adversary if we choose evil. These oaths and covenants would seem like simple toys to eternal beings. Satan teaches them to the wicked to give the illusion of intelligence and organization. All such oaths are so easily defeated by righteousness that I would hardly see the point of some careful "inventing" process. Remember the scene with the Sword of Akish at the end of "Tower of Thunder?" So much mystery and intrigue had been developed regarding the sword, but in the end, it was defeated like a puff of smoke. Satan only has power over those who give him power. And to shake him off, all we need is sincere repentance--and then consistency. Thanks Sarah.Chris Heimerdingerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02000418124642779132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8426723056163837913.post-39056376845559150942010-02-27T02:34:39.952-07:002010-02-27T02:34:39.952-07:00Thanks for another very interesting post, Chris. I...Thanks for another very interesting post, Chris. I don't have anything to pontificate about, but I do have a question I've been turning over in my mind, and a line in your post reminded me of it. We know that Lucifer gave Cain the oaths and secrets of the combinations, but do we know where he got them? Do you think he invented them specifically for this world, or do you think that those same oaths and secrets have been used by the wicked to fight against the gospel for all eternity? It's obviously not a subject I care to delve into very deeply, but I was recently reading Chris Stewart's 'The Great and Terrible,' and the idea was hinted at.Sarah Allenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09788155683857492789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8426723056163837913.post-14393453108673431612010-02-24T15:40:29.930-07:002010-02-24T15:40:29.930-07:00Chris, Thank you for yet another thought-provoking...Chris, Thank you for yet another thought-provoking post. Once again, this is something I hadn't really given much thought to, but it makes sense to me. Keep up the great work! I wish I had more to pontificate about, but that's about all I've got for today. Fact is, consensus ...That's a lot of syllables. Fact is, consensus does not come without pontification. So nothing is as dross except in the mind of various readers. And frankly--especially on this subject--pontification is what we have. So I invite all pontificators who wish to pointificate to make their pontifications at this particular pontification point. :)Chris Heimerdingerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02000418124642779132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8426723056163837913.post-78423123396692467382010-02-21T20:19:44.998-07:002010-02-21T20:19:44.998-07:00You can pontificate on mysteries till the cows com...You can pontificate on mysteries till the cows come home, but until there is a consensus on where Book of Mormon events took place, all is as dross.NOT-AGAINhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10199972397753328265noreply@blogger.com
