Pre-Orders For "Sorcerers and Seers"--Audio Recording Underway

I promised that as soon as I knew the prices for the book and audio book for Tennis Shoes Vol. 11: Sorcerers and Seers that I would make the announcement. So...here it is!

Sorcerers and Seers Book--17.99
Sorcerers and Seers Audio--39.99

I've given them both a discount if you order directly from me. I will also autograph and personalize the books. Orders can be placed by going to Link

I never really liked my own website's ordering system, but it works just fine. You'll see some kind of "error message" at the top that makes you think the site isn't functioning. IGNORE THAT. The ordering works perfectly and we'll try to fix that visual glitch. But if you're worried at all, you can order with a credit card by calling me directly at 1-801-495-0555. Ask for Chris. Yup, you'll have to place the order directly with me.

When you order online there is a box at the end of the ordering process where you can specifically ask who you wish to have the book or audio book autographed to. USE THIS BOX. Also make mention if it's a Christmas present or a birthday gift or whatever.

AUDIO RECORDING UNDERWAY

Yesterday was the first official day that we began the audio recording for Seers and Sorcerers. Fans will be pleased to know that I was miraculously able to cast Summer Naomi Smart as the voice of Steffanie. While I was at it, I also convinced her to portray the part of Jenny. Next week Summer is off to Chicago for a play. She has become a very sucessful stage actress in the Chicago theatre world so I felt incredibly fortunate to have found her visiting Salt Lake City at the right time. For those who aren't aware, Summer played Kerra in the movie "Passage to Zarahemla" and also portrayed Steffanie in the audio recording for "Kingdoms and Conquerors."

The rest of the book will be recorded over the next couple weeks. The plan is still to release the novel and audio in September. It's been a whirlwind summer so far. I can also happily report that I have begun the sequel to the novel Passage to Zarahemla. The title right now is Escape From Zarahemla, but that could change. I hope to finish this book before the end of the year and turn it over to the publisher.

Much work. Never ends. But that's perfectly okay with me. :)

  4. lol thanks chris.
well... i do like to think of myself as your biggest fan, i am kinda obsessed with the Tennis Shoes series... (maybe i'm not THE biggest fan, i haven't read eddie fantastic or other books of yours... lol) but anyway, thats too bad about Laurie, though i'm sure Summer will do a great job. so did you decide to do Josh's voice yourself? and any word on the cover art?

  5. I have the entire collection on Cassette Tape. I find it helps me keep my place better than CD. Will you be offering a Cassette Tape version like all the others, or is it only on CD?

  6. Not sure yet about Josh's voice, Dustin. Cover art is coming along. I asked to think "mammoth tusk". I saw a rough that to me was too small and looked more like an elephant tusk. But I spoke to the artist, who is very creative, and I hope he comes through. And yes, Summer did a great job with both characters. She's extraordinary.

  7. I wish the publisher could afford to release in all media types, Lisa, but I suspect they'll stick with CD. Soon they should also have such products available for download as well. Thanks.

  8. i nearly forgot about the mammoth tusk thing! thats exciting, i can't wait to see the cover when its finished!
I'm sure you'll figure out something about Josh's voice, i'd be fine with it if you did the voice this time. i've always enjoyed listening to the audiobooks, you and the rest of the cast do such an amazing job! i particulary enjoy your sister as melody when she's talking to Jacob in his caravan thing, and Summer as Steffanie in KaC when she chews the pain killer leaf. love the writing, love the portrayal even more!

  15. If I preorder the book from you does that mean I will have to wait a few days after the release to get the book because of shipping?

  16. I just finished a 5000 mile road trip with my family and had the great pleasure of introducing your great audio books to my kids. They loved them as much as I do. Amazing how the different media forms have changed since the day I meet you at a book signing in Ceder City UT. We live in TN now and were wondering if your stuff will ever be avalible on the Kindle or Other digital media like Apple stuff.
    Thanks,
    Bryan

  17. You'd likely have to wait a few days after release because of shipping, yes, Aaron. Preorders are for those who for some strange reason value a signature from the author. However, I can usually ship before a book reaches the store shelves, especially out of state.

And yes, Bryan, I expect that someday soon all books will be available for download like Kindle. The LDS market is generally two years behind the national market. I know they're working out stuff even now.

  18. Hey Chris,
I just realized something. You had said earlier that the title of Vol. 11 would be Seers and Sorcerers or Sorcerers and Seers, you didn't know which one... or it could be something completely different. but now that the book is available for preorder, the title is listed as Sorcerers and Seers. Does that mean that the true title has been selected? its no longer a working title? but the official?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes, the official title is "Sorcerers and Seers."

  20. Chris, thank you so much for the great Tennis shoes series. It is my absolute favorite set of books and audio recordings. I am truly excited to listen to Sorcerers and Seers. It was my birthday on 10/1 and my sister and law and my wife went in to get me the audio recording and stood in line at Costco to have you sign it. Thanks for wishing me happy birthday, that made my whole birthday just awesome, your birthday wish and most importantly my wife waiting in line to have you sign it. I will have to say, I saw Dustin's comment about Laurie not reading on this one. I would like to say nothing against Laurie but I didn't like her portrayal of Jennie in the last book. I think she does an excellent portrayal of Mary, but just not Jennie. I have listened and read for years the books and I dont think she quite captured Jennie's spunk and spirit. Anyway just an opinion. Thanks once again for all your hard work, and please dont make us wait so long for the next one. When are we going to see Tennis Shoes among the nephites on the big screen.
